Body Recovered from Lake Huron

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body located on a Lake Huron beach near the 6200 block of South Lakeshore Road in Worth Township.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015 at approximately 11:49 a.m. Sanilac Central Dispatch received a phone call from a male subject reporting that a body had been found on the beach when neighbors were out walking.
Deputies and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene and the initial investigation revealed that a male resident of Worth Township was out walking the beach when he came across the body of a male subject who was found partially floating in the water.
Pending official forensic identification, investigators believe that the body is that of the 57-year-old man from Macomb, Michigan, who went missing from his vessel on or around August 30th. The vessel was recovered by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office after being discovered partially submerged in Lake Huron near Forestville. on September 7, 2015 by a passing freighter.
The cause of death is yet to be determined, pending the autopsy, scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2015. This case remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Lexington Police Department and the Lexington Fire Department.
Sheriff Biniecki stated, “I am hopeful that after the official identification and over a month of waiting, it will finally bring closure to the family”.
