Fast Response Saves Business

Five local fire departments fought a fire at Kreiner’s Korner on Sunday afternoon, after trash in a burning barrel sparked a fire at the northwest end of the structure.
Port Sanilac Fire Department received a call from Kreiner’s at approximately 12:30 p.m. They were assisted by Deckerville, Carsonville, Sandusky, Delaware Township and also Hazmat from St. Clair County.
Approximately 20,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire. Most of the damage was contained to the workshop area, where a vehicle hoist, tools, used tires, and other equipment was stored. There was water damage to the upstairs area, as well as some smoke damage. It is estimated at approximately $100,000 worth of damage, according to Port Sanilac Fire Chief Brian Moran.
The Port Sanilac Fire Department was on site until after 5:00 p.m. There were no injuries.
