Dr. John Liao Retires

The community would like to honor John Liao, MD, who recently retired as the area pathologist. Dr. Liao has been in practice since July of 1979 and practiced pathology at Harbor Beach Community Hospital, Scheurer Hospital, Marlette Community Hospital, and Huron Medical Center. There are many people in the community who owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Liao for his behind-the-scene diagnoses and identification of their conditions from specimens obtained by their personal physicians and hospital. Dr. Liao himself would often make the determining diagnosis using only his microscope and his vast experience. He also did autopsies and would oversee the proper functioning of the clinical laboratories in the hospitals.
Dr. Liao graduated from Kaohsiung Medical College in Taiwan, Michigan State University, and completed his specialty and training at Grand Rapids Medical Center. Dr. Liao is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology and Anatomical and Clinical Pathology, as an active member of the American Medical Association, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Michigan Society of Pathologists, and Huron County Medical Society.
Dr. Liao recently moved to Denver, Colorado to spend quality time with his grandchildren. Dr. Liao has two sons who are medical practitioners, one who practices in Denver, and the other son, who practices in Vancouver, Washington, with his wife.
