Fire Destroys Walker Road Home

A four alarm fire at 1375 E. Walker Rd. on Sunday proved to be a total loss of a home, garage, and camper trailer were lost to the flames.
Sandusky, Elk Township, Carsonville and Applegate Fire Departments responded to a report of a camper fire inside a garage type building.
First responders arrived to find the structure, including the home were fully engulfed in flames. Officials report that a person was living in the camper for a period of months while it was parked inside the building.
All four fire departments were kept busy for a number of hours while transporting more than 75,000 gallons of water from Sandusky’s water tower, to help extinguish the fire.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials report that no residential electric service was being used at the address.
