Red Raider Review 12-16

The countdown to Christmas break is upon us! To close the calendar school year with a bang, Marlette High School is celebrating a Holiday Spirit Week! Ever-loved dress up days, such as pajama day and ugly sweater day intermingle with red and green day, guaranteed to get everyone in a festive mood. The most unique of all of the days’ themes is Michigan weather day, where students dress for the most unpredictable of weather (such as sixty-degree December days).
Not only is Marlette revving up the holiday cheer, but they are also celebrating the season of giving. The National Honor Society has teamed up with Toys for Tots, in both the elementary and high school, and is accepting gift donations for families in the community. Similarly, a cash donation will be given to those in need. Funds are being raised all week by each grade in the building. Two students, christened Mr. and Mrs. Claus for the week, are collecting funds in a friendly competition for a wonderful cause.
The grand finale of this holiday cheer premiers on Friday, when the high school and junior high bands, along with various area musicians, will serenade the elementary students during the annual Morning of Music. That afternoon, the entire high school will tromp their way to the gym for a pep assembly, in which the winner of the Mr. and Mrs. Claus fundraiser will be announced, following a game played by the representatives. For the second time that day, the band will play Christmas tunes, and then Marlette’s pride, junior Amanda Rohling will bid the students a festive farewell with her angelic singing voice.
As all of Michigan is dreaming of a white Christmas, so they may cuddle up together like two birds of a feather and roast chestnuts over an open fire, here at Marlette High we are decking the halls and jingling all the way home to rock around the Christmas tree. May we all enjoy a holly jolly Christmas. After all, it is the best time of the year.
