Peck names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Alyssa Vargo, Valedictorian
Alyssa Vargo is the daughter of Jeff and Tami Vargo, and is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2015 at Peck Community Schools. In addition to her fine academic success at Peck and 4 years of perfect attendance, Alyssa has been involved in many activities during her high school years.
Alyssa is a member of the Peck High School National Honor Society where she served as treasurer, in addition to serving as her class treasurer, secretary, and vice-president, and Student Council secretary during her high school years. She also worked with Lunch Buddies, Volleyball Tournaments, Field Day, Red Cross Blood Drives, Cardboard City, and Senior Citizen Prom.
In the community Alyssa was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Family 2 Family, Food Distributions, and Upward Basketball.
Alyssa has been recognized by her teachers for outstanding academics during her high school years at Peck, and she has received a variety of awards which among them include Biology Award, World History Award, Government Award, and Chemistry Award, in addition to receiving all A’s all four years.
Along with her academics, Alyssa has participated in volleyball, theatre, band, travel club, and was the captain of the Language Arts team.
After graduation, Alyssa will be attending Saginaw Valley State University where she was awarded the Presidents Scholarship. Her goal is to pursue a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy with plans to become a traveling Occupational Therapist or work with Pediatric patients.
Tara Thompson, Salutatorian
Tara Thompson is the daughter of Steve and Cindy Thompson, and is a Salutatorian for the Class of 2015 at Peck Community Schools. In addition to her fine academic success at Peck Tara has been involved in many activities during her high school years.
Tara is presently the President of the Peck High School National Honor Society in addition to serving as her class President, Vice President, and Treasurer, along with Student Council Vice President, and Secretary during her high school years. She also worked with Lunch Buddies, Youth Basketball, Field Day, Senior Citizen Prom, Adopt-a-Highway, and various Red Cross Blood Drives.
In the community Tara has devoted her time to Freedom Riders, an Equine therapeutic riding program to help rehabilitate disabled children. Tara has been recognized by her teachers for outstanding academics during her high school years at Peck, and she has received awards for Economics, Algebra 2, and English 3, along with Outstanding Junior, State FFA Degree, and Outstanding Student in the Biotech Program at the Career Center.
Along with her academics, Tara has participated in Basketball, Theater, and Academic Games.
After graduation, Tara will be attending Saginaw Valley State University where she was awarded the Deans Scholarship. Her goal is to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with plans to be an Equine Nutritionist and work in the horse racing industry.
Thomas Gallagher, Salutatorian
Tom Gallagher is the son of Terry and Mary Gallagher. He is a Salutatorian for the class of 2015 at Peck Community Schools.
In addition to his fine academic success and 4 years of perfect attendance at Peck, Tom has participated in a variety of extracurricular activities such as Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track. He is a member and Vice President of the National Honor Society, and has participated in the Youth Advisory Council, Student Council, Theatre, and Academic Games.
Tom has received numerous academic honors such as Physical Science Award, English Award, Wars of America Award, and World History Award, along with receiving All A’s all Year.
In the community Tom has umpired for Summer League Baseball, worked for the Lions Club, Red Cross Blood Drives, Knights of Columbus, been a Soup Kitchen Volunteer, and served as Lector at St. John’s Catholic Church.
In the fall Tom plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University, where he has earned the Deans Scholarship. At this time he is undecided as to what his course of study will be, however Tom will be a member of the University’s Foundation Scholars Group and looks forward to studying overseas his Sophomore year.
Taylor Pitts, Salutatorian
Taylor Pitts is the son of Richard and Denise Pitts, and is a Salutatorian for the Class of 2015 at Peck Community Schools.
In addition to his fine academic success at Peck, Taylor has been involved in many activities during his high school years such as Football, Basketball, Baseball, Academic Games, Lunch Buddies, Students Council, and Sale-Away Designs.
Taylor is also a member of the Peck High School National Honor Society.
Taylor has been recognized by his teachers for outstanding academics during his high school years at Peck, and he has received awards for Spanish 2 and U. S. History.
Along with his academics, Taylor has participated in community activities which include Youth Advisory Council, Red Cross Blood Drives, Adopt-a-Highway, various Food Drives, raising money for Eva’s Place, and Holiday Gift Wrapping through DHS.
After graduation, Taylor will be attending St. Clair County Community College to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.
