City Council holds Regular Meeting

The Sandusky City Council convened for their regular meeting Monday, November 16th.
The city is working on removing the remaining leaves in the street, though progess is being slowed by the failure of one of the D.P.W. trucks. The D.P.W. will be adding an additional full-time employee, Kevin Mumby. Kevin formerly served the Frankenmuth D.P.W.
Manager Faber noted that the Airport renovations looked great, save for one minor detail: gutters. The gutters are allegedly being installed this coming week.
Representatives from the Rising Tide movement were in attendance to make a presentation on the program. Debbie Neumann (MHSDA) and Jessica Billiau (Thumb Works) laid out the general timeline of the project at Monday’s meeting. The planning stages for the Rising Tide program began months ago with the idea of redevelopment and revitlization of the city at the forefront.
The city of Sandusky was chosen for the program because of the high levels of poverty, unemployment, and losses to the tax base they are currently experiencing. Thankfully, the city currently resides in a “Goldilocks” zone between two extremes: poverty and abundance. The hope of Rising Tide members, as well as community stakeholders, is to give the community a push in the right direction, and stave off impoverishment indefinitely.
Interested members of the community can attend the Rising Tide meeting being held November 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the city building.
The council approved a street sale from the 4th-5th of December, for the Toys for Tots program. The sale will be held at the four corners from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00p.m. on both days.
