Redskin Review 3-9-16

Sandusky froze in anticipation watching our winter sports taking leaps of improvement. Even the weather took a backseat to our preparations for these activities as we finally experienced a calm stretch in the winter season. This weekend was a huge turning point for wrestling, bowling, and girls’ basketball. Hopefully, spring offers just as many exciting opportunities!
Thursday and Friday sparse classrooms were littered with students discreetly discussing the goings-on of the absent sports teams. The entire wrestling team and some other supporters followed Stanley Solley, Tate Larson, and Trevor Willing to state finals and watched them compete with relentless focus. In fact, Trevor earned All-State Honors, a highly sought after recognition and certainly a highlight of his wrestling career. Additionally, girls’ basketball took home the title of district champions Friday night after beating our rival, Marlette, 38-32. To top off all the excitement, our Redskin bowling team was deemed state champions this weekend, as well. The excellent bowling team attributes some of its skill to seven bowlers that qualified for individual states also.
This was a proud weekend for all the extraordinary athletes who competed but also for all the Redskins that cheered them on. Each of these crowning moments will not easily be forgotten. These victories formed memories for all the individuals, but they also created history for SHS.
