Redskin Review 5/27/15

Sandusky students have completed one of their last full weeks of school! However, the weekends of these last few weeks will still be littered with activities. For instance, Memorial Day weekend was jam-packed with an array of events both to commemorate this occasion and take advantage of the excellent weather.
Firstly, our golf team stayed especially busy as they made preparations for their final matches of the season that will determine their competition status. On Friday, their efforts resulted in assurance to move on to the regional matches. Each of the 6 members gave an outstanding contribution, which ensued a total score of 380 after 2 matches. Hence, wish our athletes luck as they continue to make strides of improvement and generate an exceptional view of Sandusky Schools with their remarkable performance.
Once again a multitude of students took the opportunity to volunteer for Food-4-Friends this weekend, as well. Formed in 2012 by Sandusky High School students, Food-4-Friends have collected over $8,000 through the years of donations on this weekend. This has allowed us to organize 9 food distributions, which have assisted Eva’s Place, HELP Inc., and over 1,700 families in our area. This year we plan to arrange 3 separate times for food distributions at the Elementary School, June 24th, July 29th, and August 12th. Of course, this goal can only be achieved with the help of donations from everyone who passes through the four corners; if you’re able, please do your part. This one event means the world to numerous families that have fallen upon difficult times.
Additionally, on Monday Sandusky’s Marching Band added to the commemorative events of Memorial Day. To begin, the band marched to “Patriotic Spectacular” in front of the courthouse, where a ceremony took place in memory of all the fallen soldiers that the courthouse monuments represent. Moreover, we then had the opportunity to preform “The Star Spangled Banner” and a selection, “Salute to America” at the Greenwood and Mooretown Cemeteries. Furthermore, this was an admirable presentation of the gratitude Sandusky possesses for the brave men and women who have devoted their lives to such an honorable cause.
