Online Dating leads to Armed Robbery

Two men were arrested Friday after an assault and armed robbery in Sanilac County.
Troopers were called to an Evergreen Township home Wednesday for a report of an armed robbery and assault, according to a statement from the Michigan State Police.
An 18-year-old woman told police she met a man online and invited him over. The man initially was friendly, but later attacked the woman.
A second man arrived, assisted in the assault and robbed the home. The men left and the woman called her parents, who called police.
The woman was taken to Cass City Hills and Dales General Hospital, was treated and later released.
While investigating the assault, troopers learned of other similar incidents in Oakland and Macomb counties. Investigators believe the incidents were linked to one or both of the suspects in the case.
The 21-year-old Troy man and 28-year-old Madison Heights man were arrested in Battle Creek Friday with the help of the MSP Fifth District Fugitive Team.
The Troy man was lodged in the Oakland County jail on outstanding warrants. The Madison Heights man was lodged in the Sanilac County jail.
Units from the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, Troy Police Department, Macomb County Sheriff Department, and the Battle Creek Police Department assisted troopers.
