Due to funding restrictions women in Lapeer County must live in one of the following zip codes: 48421, 48446, 48461, 48464. The fall Women 2 Women (W2W) group will start on Wednesday, October 12 and end on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. To register for this free group, go to https://www.survey monkey.com/r/WtoW. Registration is due by Monday, October 2, 2022. Please email tchpinfo33@gmail.com with questions or for more information.
“Women living with a long-term health condition often experience pain, stress or limited physical activity,” explains Gail Innis, W2W Coach. “We’ve designed the online W2W program to help these women better manage their health, so they feel better both physically and mentally.”
As part of the W2W program, the women will participate in the Better Choices, Better Health® online series for 6 weeks. Local education and support will be provided by Innis. Developed by Stanford University, the Better Choice Better Health workshop series has proven to improve symptoms related to long-term conditions, reduce depression and anxiety, and increase physical activity.
From the comfort of their own home, participants will join a small group of people for the Better Choices Better Health series. The program takes about an hour a week and is completed at their convenience. Participants will access weekly online lessons and tools to help them learn new ways to manage their health. Trained facilitators guide participants in setting weekly small, achievable goals. In addition to the 6-week Better Choices Better Health series, W2W participants will meet with Innis for online sessions as a local group of 10-15 women for additional support and education.
“Giving and receiving support in the workshop has been proven to help participants improve their health and reach their health goals,” shares Innis. “ I will be the women’s coach during the entire 10-week program. I will answer questions, provide information about local resources, and help participants get the most out of the program. “
“W2W is a broad program,” Innis explains. “It includes reading, discussing, and questioning. Most importantly, participants establish goals and objectives that will result in improved health and wellbeing. They will be able to make better choices for themselves. They will be helped by good facilitators.
