PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the following proposals will appear on the ballot:
COUNTY:
• Renewal of Medical Care Facility Millage – This is a renewal of the expired Medical Care Facility 0.2000 millage that will provide funds for the operation of the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility.
Shall the expired previously voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Sanilac County, which was last approved for six years by the electors in 2016, be renewed at the originally voted 0.2000 mills (20 cents per $1,000.00 of taxable value), and levied for six (6) years, 2022 through 2027, inclusive, for the purpose of funding the payment of maintenance of effort fees charged the County of Sanilac by the State of Michigan for the operation of the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility and for the operations of the facility itself? If approved, it is estimated that the 0.2000 mill would raise $339,076 in the first year the millage is levied. A portion of the millage may be captured by local Tax Increment Finance Authorities, Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities and Downtown Development Authorities.
TOWNSHIPS:
• Bridgehampton Road Millage Increase – The millage will provide funding for general road construction and repair purposes within the unincorporated areas of Bridgehampton Township.
Shall Bridgehampton Township impose an increase of up to one (1) mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Bridgehampton Township and levy it for a period of four years, 2022 through 2025 inclusive, with the funds to be used for general road construction and repair purposes within the unincorporated areas of Bridgehampton Township and shall the Township levy such increase in millage for said purpose, thereby raising an estimated $29,977.68 in the first year that the millage is levied?
• Bridgehampton Road Millage Renewal – Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Bridgehampton Township be renewed at one (1) mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of four years, 2023 through 2026 inclusive, with the funds to be used for general road construction and repair purposes within the unincorporated areas of Bridgehampton Township and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby raising an estimated $29,977.68 in the first year that the millage is levied?
• Wheatland Township Road Maintenance Millage Renewal – A Wheatland Township voted Road millage for two (2) mills terminates on December 31, 2021. Shall the expiring previous voted increase in the 15 mill tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes in Wheatland Township, of two (2) mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), be renewed at the original voted two (2) mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for four (4) years from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2025 inclusive, for the purpose of building, repairing, maintaining, and constructing township roads, raising an estimated Sixty Nine Thousand One Hundred Ninety Three Dollars and Zero Cents ($69,193.00) in the first year the millage is levied?
SCHOOLS:
• Brown City Community Schools Sinking Fund Millage Proposal – Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Brown City Community Schools, Sanilac, Lapeer and St. Clair Counties, Michigan, be increased by and the board of education be authorized to levy not to exceed 1.5 mills ($1.50 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 10 years, 2022 to 2031, inclusive, to create a sinking fund for the construction or repair of school buildings, for school security improvements, for the acquisition or upgrading of technology and all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2022 is approximately $244,055?
