Eagles Hit the Road Early

The Deckerville Eagles started their season with four away games.
On December 5, the boys played Owen-Gage, having little trouble with them, getting the win, 72-5.
The Eagles scored 22 points in the first quarter, Derek Osborne and Connor Palmer both scored 7, Kris Kosal 6 and Brady Sharbowski, 2. Owen-Gage scored three points. In the second quarter, the Eagles added 20 more points, Derek Osborne and David Shanks had 6 apiece, Logan Martin, 3, Gabe Kappen a 3-pointer, and Mike Pink, 2. Owen-Gage was held scoreless. In the third quarter, Deckerville added 17 more points, 5 from Hunter Garza (one three-pointer), 4 from Derek Osborne, and two from Brady Sharbowski, Connor Palmer, Kris Kosal and Gabe Kappen. Owen-Gage was held scoreless again. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles added another 13 points behind Logan Marshall with 7 (one 3-pointer), Kaleb Loomis 4 and David Shanks, 2.
On December 9, the boys traveled to Capac in tournament action, where they took the loss, 37-74, to Imlay City.
Imlay City took a big lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Eagles, 25-6. Derek Osborne scored 4 of the points (one 3-pointer) and Connor Palmer, 2. The second quarter was better matched, with Deckerville adding 16 points, Imlay City, 17. Scoring for Deckerville came from David Shanks with 7, 5 from Logan Martin (one 3-pointer) and Derek Osborne, 4. Imlay City controlled the third quarter, scoring 23 points, holding Deckerville to 8. David Shanks scored5 (one 3-pointer), Preston Holman, 2 and Derek Osborne, 1. Imlay City scored 9 in the fourth, Deckerville, 7, with David Shanks scoring 4, Derek Osborne, 2 and Mike Pink, 1.
The boys played Capac on Saturday, getting the win 60-41. In the first quarter, the Eagles scored 12 points, 4 each from Derek Osborne and David Shanks, and Connor Palmer and Gabe Kappen, 2 apiece. The boys held Capac to 7. In the second quarter, Deckerville scored 10 points – Logan Martin 5, Gabe Kappen a 3-pointer and Derek Osborne, 2. Capac had a strong quarter, scoring 19, for a 26-22 lead. Logan Martin had four 3-pointers in the third quarter and David Shanks 4 points, scoring 16 points, with Capac scoring 15. The Eagles outscored their opponent, 19-4 in the fourth quarter, with Hunter Garza scoring two 3-pointers, Derek Osborne 6, Logan Martin 5 (one 3-pointer) and Connor Palmer, 2.
Coach Stolicker said, “We started out slow, but really starting playing better as a team as the game went on.”
The boys were on the road on Tuesday, against CPS (stats not available at press time) and will be home on Friday against Bay City All Saints.
