Sandusky Bests Ubly; Nearing League Title

The Sandusky Lady Wolves took on the Ubly Lady Bearcats Friday night at home in a double header with the Varsity Boys. Winston the Wolf, Sandusky’s newly named mascot, was on hand to hype up the crowd for the double header. The Lady Wolves took an early lead, outscoring the Lady Bearcats eighteen to four in the first quarter. Ubly battled back in the second quarter but could not erase Sandusky’s commanding lead and trailed 25-11 at halftime.
The Lady Wolves outscored Ubly for the remainder of the game, adding nineteen points to their total while holding Ubly to just 15 second half points. The Lady Wolves took the win 44-26.
Friday night was the Jansen and Jansen show with both Jansen girls making it into double figures. Ally Jansen had sixteen points, seven steals and two assists. Brooke Jansen chipped in twelve points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Helena Long chipped in six points, three rebounds and four steals. Morgan Taege had four points, four steals and two assists. Grace Guibord had two points, six steals, three rebounds and three assists. Maggy Keinath added four points for the Wolves.
Sandusky improved their record to 15-3 overall (8-0 GTC East) and are looking to be the favorites to win the title for the Greater Thumb East Conference but will first have to steal one from the Lady Red Raiders in Marlette this Thursday. Sandusky has a chance to clinch the title with a win against the Lady Raider squad.
