Legion Tie it up in Final Minutes

The Thumb Area Legion hit the road this weekend to take on the Tawas Area Braves at Tawas Bay Ice Arena in Tawas City. The Braves took the lead with two minutes to go in the first period off a goal from Gage Maxfield. Cody Primm netted another goal for the Braves before Gabe Vanderlip answered (assisted by Eli Odle) with 12 minutes to go in the second. Kyle Indreica capitalized on a power play for Tawas and brought the Braves up 3-1 on the Legion before the boys went to work in the third period. Caleb Lentner scored his first goal of the night (assited by Tyler Lamm and Chase Talaski) with 8 minutes to go in the game. Lentner scored again with a minute and a half remaining in the game to tie the score up before overtime. Neither team scored in overtime and the game was called a tie 3-3. Seth Hiles tended goal for the legion, saving 36 of 39 shots on goal for a save percentage of 92.3%. The Legion are now 3-2-1 after the tie on Saturday and 0-0-1 in their division so far. The Legion hosted their final home game of 2022 against North Oakland Wednesday night at the Collen J Howe Arena in Sandusky. The Legion travel to Saginaw the night before Christmas Eve before heading back home for their first game in 2023, against the Tri-Valley Titans on January 6th.
