Eagles garner Academic All State Honors

The Academic All-State Committee has announced its 30th MHSFCA Academic All-State Football Team, and the Deckerville Eagles were chosen as 8-Man Academic All State.
One hundred forty-three teams were nominated, and the top four teams in each division receive plaques honoring their achievements as Academic All-State Teams.
Deckerville’s Colton Palmer received Individual First Team All-Academic.
Eighteen student-athletes automatically qualified for First Team this year by scoring 295 or above on a 300 point scale.
Fourteen members of the First Team were ranked first in their class. Of the 133 total nominees, 28 were ranked first in their class. The 24 First Team members also scored highly on their ACT: one scored 35, four scored 34, seven scored 33, eight scored 32 and three scored 31. Fourteen of the First Team members have a 4.0 GPA, or better. The average GPA for the First Team is 3.92.
Deckerville’s Lou Garza was also selected as one of the 2015 Assistant Coaches of the Year.
Sandusky’s Tate Larson was also named to the individual Second Team All-Academic.
