Deckerville home to Track State Champions

The Deckerville Track team has much to be proud of – 10 of the 11 athletes that competed at the state track meet made All State status. Not only that, but Trevor Barker placed first in the 800, and will also have bragging rights at home, beating his brother Stephen’s school record of 1.56.82, running it at 1.56.42. The 1600 boys relay team also took first, with a time of 3.32.92. Will Brown placed 7th in pole vault, with a jump of 11-09.00 and Abigail Sanford placed 5th, with a jump of 9-00.00. Both the boys and girls 3200 relay took seventh place – the boys: Brett Dumaw, Trevor Barker, Traiten Colesa and Aaron Wilcox with a time of 8.35.04 and the girls: Alexa Roberts, Abigail Sanford, Sophia Sanford and Leah Trigger, with a time of 10:48.16.
Girls Coach Linn said, “I am very elated! The 3200 relay team ran their best time of the year, and Abigail had a PR in pole vault, jumping the highest she’s done all year.”
Boys Coach Dan Woodard said, “I am thrilled! I talked to the athletes about the opportunity to perform the way they were capable of – and they did! They didn’t let nerves or the heat stop them.”

Trevor Barker placed first in the 800 at the state meet, with a time of 1.56.42.
