19th Annual Flamingo Fling Soars despite Restrictions

The continued COVID restrictions regarding mass gatherings pushed this year’s Flamingo Fling event to an on-line auction for the second year in a row. This year’s event include 152 ladies bidding on 128 auction items during the week of May 2nd. The event concluded at 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 7th and tallied over $57,700.00 for gross proceeds. The ladies bid 1,665 times on the 128 auction items that were generously donated by business, clubs and individuals. The event was further supported by a number of cash sponsors who all donated $100.00 or more to help support the event! A huge thank you to all our many prize donor. The lucky winner of the Lady Luck Raffle was Karol Mezo. Karol was pretty happy to select the Lady Luck Raffle prize of $1,000.00 cash!
The Sanilac Area Violence Council holds the annual Flamingo Fling to raise funds to support the Eva’s Place shelter. Eva’s Place is Sanilac County’s only emergency residential shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault or homelessness. With the generous support of so many, the shelter will be receiving over $55,000.00 from this year’s event to help support the shelter’s annual operating costs. The SAVE Council wishes to extend sincere thanks to all our sponsors and everyone involved.
