Raiders Win Big against Caro

The Marlette Raiders started out their season with a big win against Caro, 44-6, on their home field.
Quarter scores: Marlette – 14, 16, 14, 0; Caro – 0-0-6-0.
Coach Denny Lester said, “This was a great win to start the season. We had a lot of kids contribute to this win. We have a very young team this year with only two seniors. The young kids really did a nice job executing our offense. Quintin did an excellent job leading the team tonight. Our defensive coordinator, Derek Hall, put in a great scheme for Caro’s spread and the kids executed it.”
Marlette scored their first touchdown of the game on a Logan Malloy 6-yard run. He also ran in the 2-point conversion. The boys scored a second touchdown in the first quarter, on a Quintin Sartin 11-yard pass to Aaron Bower. The 2-point conversion failed.
In the second quarter, Quintin Sartin scored on a 1-yard run. Logan Malloy ran in the 2-point conversion. They scored again with 57 seconds left in the second quarter, this time on an interception caught by Quintin Sartin. Tyler Izdorek ran in the 2-point conversion.
The Raiders added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, on a Tyler Izydorek 15-yard run, with Westley Chapin running in the 2-point conversion, and again on a Westley Chapin 7-yard run, with the conversion failing.
Marlette was 3-5 passing, with Quintin Sartin 2-4-51 and Trey Lester 1-1-9.
Quintin Sartin was 10-64 rushing; Logan Malloy 8-30; Westley Chapin 6-30; Trey Lester 4-20; Tyler Izydorek 3-17; Adam Wilcox 5-10.
Receiving for Marlette, Westley Chapin 1-40; Aaron Bower 1-11; and Tyler Izydorek 1-9 .
Leading on defense were Quintin Sartin with 4.5 tackles (4 solo, 1 assist) and Jack Macha, 4-5 tackles (4 solo, 1 assist).
