Sandusky Loses to Cass City in Nailbiter

The Sandusky Varsity Football team faced off against the Cass City Redhawks last Friday in Sandusky. Both teams were cold in the first quarter, with defense winning the battle of either team’s offense. Sandusky drew first blood in the second quarter off of a 3 yard rushing touchdown by Kyle Guibord followed by a successful two point conversion.
Cass City answered Sandusky’s score with eight points of their own off of a 31 yard pass followed up with a successful conversion. Both teams were tied 8-8 at the half.
Cass City put six points on the board to start the second half off of an 8 yard rush. Cass City fails to convert the two point attempt. Sandusky’s Jackson Reinke got free and scampered for 39 yards for the receiving touchdown thrown by Kyle Guibord. Sandusky fails their conversion to tie the game 14 a piece. Cass City breaks through the Sandusky offense for a five yard rushing touchdown to seal out the win. The Redhawks take the PAT attempt but miss and the final score is 20-14 Cass City.
Sandusky ran the ball effectively with 137 on 31 attempts they averaged a first down in less than three carries. Sandusky’s record moves to 1-4 for the season but very nearly pulled this one out and will look for some redemption in their homecoming matchup against a tough Harbor Beach team.
Sandusky’s Homecoming game against Harbor Beach Friday is the last chance to catch Sandusky at home before their two game road trip to Ubly and Reese the first two weeks of October.
