14 Year Old in Stable Condition After Being Hit by Car

A 14 year old child from the Sandusky area was hit by a car after darting into the roadway on S. Elk St. last Wednesday. According to Sandusky City Police Chief Brett Lester, the 14 year old girl was headed to the Well following early dismissal at Sandusky schools. Apparently, the child ran between stopped northbound traffic and entered the southbound lane of M-19 where she was struck by a car driven by a 25 year old Sandusky area woman. The child was taken by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Hospital and was later transferred to Hurley Medical Center for treatment for a broken pelvis. The girl has since been released and is recovering at home.
