Regular Meeting Minutes – January 23, 2023

The Deckerville Community Schools Board of Education met in regular session on
January 23, 2023 in the high school library.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Superintendent Michael Hugan.
Members present: Amy Dumaw, Curt Vogel, Brandon Stolicker, Randee Kirkpatrick, Jason McConnachie, Richard Hamill, Kendra Messing
Administrators present: Michael Hugan, Joshua Stern, Matthew Connelly
The Board of Education received Certificates of Appreciation for Board Appreciation Month from Superintendent Michael Hugan.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Curt Vogel to elect Brandon Stolicker to the position of Board of Education President. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Randee Kirkpatrick to elect Amy Dumaw to the position of Board of Education Vice-President. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Kendra Messing to elect Randee Kirkpatrick to the position of Board of Education Secretary. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie support by Amy Dumaw, to elect Curt Vogel to the position of Board of Education Treasurer. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Curt Vogel to adopt the agenda for January 23, 2023, Regular Meeting. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Randee Kirkpatrick to approve the regular meeting minutes of December 19, 2022. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Curt Vogel to approve the General Fund bills in the amount of $54,368.58. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Kendra Messing to approve the Student/School Activity Fund bills in the amount of $3,855.15. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Amy Dumaw to approve the Food Service Fund bills in the amount of $23,447.81. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Jason McConnachie to approve the Debt Service Fund bills in the amount of $938.60. Carried.
Board President, Brandon Stolicker, appointed the following board members to the following committees:
Operations Committee: Amy Dumaw, Curt Vogel, Richard Hamill
Personnel Committee: Jason McConnachie, Curt Vogel, Brandon Stolicker
Finance Committee: Randee Kirkpatrick, Kendra Messing, Curt Vogel
Board member representatives were appointed to the following:
MASB Liaison: Brandon Stolicker
Sanilac County School Board Association: Amy Dumaw
ISD Budget & Elections: Curt Vogel
The Board heard an introduction and update from Fred Ameel, Deckerville Chief of Police.
The Board heard reports from Ron Webb, Transportation Director, Joshua Stern, High School Principal, Matthew Connelly, Elementary Principal and Superintendent Michael Hugan.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Kendra Messing to accept, with regret, the resignation of Patricia Bartley as 1st Grade Teacher. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Amy Dumaw to accept, with regret, the resignation of Michael Hugan, Superintendent. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Amy Dumaw to adjourn at 7:59 p.m. Carried.
