Dickens of a Christmas Friday in Deckerville

Dickens of a Christmas in Deckerville is this Friday, December 9, in the Village of Deckerville, from 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Make plans now to attend the fun-filled event. Bring the kids and have them participate in everything that is planned.
Of course, Santa and his reindeer will be making their appearances, they will be at Keinath Tire, where there will be face painting, coloring books and crayons, and holiday goodies for everyone. Kids can pick up a free make & take ornament to place on the Downtown Christmas Tree.
Area kids are encouraged to write a letter to Santa, and drop it off at the special mailbox at the Community Center, where it will be directed to the North Pole.
An old-fashioned sleigh will be downtown for those wanting to use it as a backdrop for family pictures, and the Grinch will be at Stone Insurance for pictures, too! While there, register for the chance to win a free grill.
The Deckerville Library will have fun origami gift boxes to make and Christmas Wish Paper Quilts; Bloomin’ Crazy will have a Make & Take Reindeer Craft to make; Woodland Ag & Home will have a Reindeer Washer Toss, Citgo will have Holiday Cornhole, Eastern Michigan Bank and the Child Advocacy Center will be at Deckerville Community Ministries for Christmas crafts and activities, and the Silver Tavern is collecting hats, mittens and scarves for their Giving Tree, receive bonus tickets for boys and girls gifts at the Community Center.
Deckerville Bible Church will have free hot chocolate and donuts, and at the Deckerville Community Center, there will be a free movie and popcorn, with show times of 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Visit the Community Center and get a free cookie, from 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., compliments of Mrs. Claus’s head baker. There will be reindeer games at participating stores, participating children will receive Santa Bucks that can be redeemed at the Community Center. An Angel Walk is being planned from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Get luminary bags at Bloomin’ Crazy Flowers & More and Eastern Michigan Bank ($5 each) and decorate them in memory of a loved one. Return to Bloomin’ Crazy by Thursday, December 8. They will be lined up on Main Street (weather permitting). Sign up for a free drawing at Project Blessing. The Silver Tavern will once again be collecting mittens, scarves and hats for their Giving Tree. Receive bonus tickets for gifts at the Community Center.
The Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at 6:45 p.m., with Brad and Debbie Apsey as Masters of Ceremonies.
