Pirates back on Winning Track

Dave Fredrick

Following a lopsided loss a week ago, the Peck Pirates got back on the winning track with an exciting 28-22 win over North Huron Friday night on the Warriors home field. A fourth quarter touchdown for Peck was the deciding factor.
The Warriors took the early lead on a 64 yard run before Peck scored six on a one yard dive by Fernando McAboy. North Huron stretched their lead to 14-6 lead at the intermission on a 13 yard run and managed one more TD in the third quarter, following a seven yard run.
Peck answered when they tallied twice in the third quarter, once on a 11 yard scoring strike from Garrett Overstreet to Jacob Holman and McAboy scored his second TD of the night, this one coming on another one yard dive into the endzone. The Pirates capped the scoring in the fourth quarter when Hunter Welsch punched it in from 10 yards out and McAboy added the two point conversion.
Welsh led the Pirate running game with 120 yards on 22 carries. David Weller added 45 yards on six rushes. Overstreet completed three of 10 passes for 59 yards. As a team, the Pirates amassed 213 yards rushing and had another 67 yards passing. The Warriors had 203 yards on the ground.
Peck will collide with C-PS Friday night on the Tigers home field and travel to Dryden the following week.
