The Sandusky tennis team improved to 7-3-1 on the year with a pair of wins over Frankenmuth. The first match had been started on the Eagles home courts but was postponed due to thunderstorms. The two teams finished that match in Sandusky last week and also played a full match following that completion. The Redskin netters came away with wins of 5-3 and 6-2.
In the first match, Sandusky took three of four singles matches with Danny Hale (6-2,6-2) , Josh DeKam (6-4, 6-0) and Michael Wentzel (6-1, 6-1) all winning in straight sets.
The Redskins split the doubles action, winning at #2 (Brady Scribner and Ethan Roggenbuck) and #4 doubles (Blake Kartanys and Kaelyn Demmon). Scribner and Roggenbuck endured a three-set marathon winning by scores of 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
In the second match, the Redskins doubles teams swept the competition away, including another three-set match at #2 doubles. Wentzel and Amanda Mrozek rolled to victory by scores of 6-2, 6-2 while Scribner and Roggenbuck pulled out a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 decision. Trenton Pardy and Justin Stone earned a 6-4, 6-4 win while the #4 tandem of Kartanys and Eric Brown scored a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win. Hale took a 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles and Jack Norton stepped up at #3 singles to claim a 6-2, 7-5 win. The Redskins will host Marysville Monday afternoon in a non-conference match.
