Phillip “John” Parrent

SANDUSKY-Phillip “John” Parrent, age 81, of Sandusky and Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away April 7, 2015 at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills.
He was born October 19, 1933 in Reese, Michigan, son of the late Francis and Bertha (LaFluer) Parrent.
John worked as a welder at Dafoe ship yard in Bay City, on the great lakes freighters and then going to G.M. Foundry in Saginaw, doing maintanence. He was drafted in the U.S. Army being honorably discharged in 1957. John married the former Lois Solgat on June 25, 1955 at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Reese. In 1958, they purchased their farm in Sandusky. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Sanilac Farm Bureau.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Lois, (2 ½ months short of 60 years) are his sons, Brad (Luz Elena), Randy and finance Sherry Ulrich; grandchildren: Justin (Christi) Kelly, Leslie and Nathan Parrent. great-grandchildren, Vaughn and June Kelly; brothers, Anthony (Sally), of Carsonville and Francis (Lucille), of West Branch; sisters: Monica (Leonard) Franklin, of Frankenmuth and Leota Kowalski, of Bay City; sister-in-law, Wanda Parrent, of LaJolla Beach, California.
In addition to his parents, a sister Veronica Bierlein, brothers, Foster and Virgil and brothers-in-law Virgil Kowalski and John Bierlein preceded him in death.
Sisters in law and brothers in law: Ken (Elaine) Schrader, of Reese, Kathleen Haskinson, of Frankenmuth and Jerry (Jan) Solgat, of Frankenmuth.
The following preceded him in death, Tom Haskinson, of Frankenmuth, Duane (Mary Lou) Walker, of Wixom, MI. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph Catholic Church), 59 North Moore Street, Sandusky. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
