Deckerville Homecoming this Weekend!!!
From fireworks to tractor pulls, and everything in between, Deckerville will be the place to be this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 7, 8 and 9.
Friday starts off with village-wide garage sales (the map is on page 6), a Book Sale at Deckerville Public Library and the Funtastic Family Fair, held at Deckerville Schools.
There will be food galore at Wilson Park, and the American Legion Beer Tent opens at 4:00 p.m. The horseshoes will be flying, with a special “Old Timers Doubles” starting at 5:00 p.m. The TTPA Tractor Pull also starts at 5:00 p.m., with DJ “John & Char” entertaining the crowds, beginning at 9:00 p.m.
New this year will be Sunshine Fire Entertainment Live Fire Dancers, just prior to another amazing fireworks display, to be set off at the Deckerville schoolgrounds.
Saturday morning’s activities are starting early in the morning – with a 5K Run/Walk starting at Deckerville Schools and Mud Volleyball at Wilson Park. A Craft Show is planned for 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m., with Trinity Lutheran Church holding a Bake Sale. Both the Deckerville Public Library and Deckerville Historical Museum will be open.
There will be pre-parade activities on Main Street, and a Pet Parade is being planned for 12:00 noon.
The grand parade is set for 12:000 noon, with the theme, “Honoring a Classy Cop with Classic Cop TV Shows”.
The annual Car Show will be held right after the parade on Main Street.
If you’re hungry, head back to Wilson Park for the Goodtimers’ Roast Pork Dinner or visit the many other food booths.
There will lots of ways to entertain the kids, from the Whispering Pines Petting Zoo, to Jewls the Clown, and the Space Walk.
The Goodtimers are sponsoring a “Cow Plop” as part of the day’s fun.
The Deckerville Idol Competition starts at 1:30 p.m., with a Karaoke Contest to follow.
The Eastern Michigan Tractor Pulling Association will hold a Tractor pull at 3:00 p.m.
A Deckerville Alumni Baseball game will be held at the ballfields of the school, starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Beer Tent will be open, and from 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 midnight, live entertainment by “The Nightmare” and “The Wreking Crue” will be heard.
Winners of the raffles will be annunced at 11:00 p.m.
Sanilac Transportation will be on hand both Friday and Saturday night for those who need a ride home.
The Homecoming concludes on Sunday with a Co-Ed Softball Tourney at the Sanilac Sportsmen’s Club, with a Chicken BBQ starting at 12:00 noon.
