Regular Meeting Minutes – February 28, 2023

The Deckerville Community Schools Board of Education met in regular session on February 28, 2023 in the high school library.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Brandon Stolicker.
Members present: Amy Dumaw, Jason McConnachie, Brandon Stolicker, Randee Kirkpatrick, Curt Vogel, Richard Hamill
Members Absent: Kendra Messing
Administrators present: Michael Hugan, Joshua Stern
Administrator absent: Matthew Connelly
Motion by Jason McConnache, support by Amy Dumaw to adopt the agenda for the February 28, 2023, Regular Meeting. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Jason McConnache to approve the regular meeting minutes of January 23, 2023. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Richard Hamill to approve the Special Board meeting minutes of February 13, 2023. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Curt Vogel to approve the Special Board meeting minutes of February 20, 2023. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Curt Vogel to approve the General Fund bills in the amount of $76,715.65. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Amy Dumaw to approve the Athletic Fund bills in the amount of $2,418.66. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Richard Hamill to approve the Student/School Activity Fund bills in the amount of $7,757.47. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Richard Hamill to approve the Food Service Fund bills in the amount of $13,654.13. Carried.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Richard Hamill to approve the prompt pay bills for the month of January. Carried.
The Board heard a presentation from Jesse Belkiewicz for the high school band to go on a trip to Nashville.
The Board heard a presentation from Chief Fred Ameel, Deckerville Police Department, in regards to dedicated funds from the school.
The Board heard department head reports from Ron Webb, Transportation Director and Rustin Murdock, Technology Director, and administrative reports from Joshua Stern, High School Principal and Michael Hugan, Superintendent.
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Amy Dumaw to approve the revised budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year as presented by Marsha Taylor, Business Manager. Revenues totaled $8,689,085 expenditures totaled $8,749,616 with $60,531 being deducted from the fund balance, resulting in an estimated General Fund balance of $2,190,738 as of June 30, 2023. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Richard Hamill to approve the high school band trip to Nashville. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Jason McConnachie to approve Christi Pavlovics as the “Friend of Youth”. Carried.
Motion by Amy Dumaw, support by Richard Hamill to vote for James Johnson to serve on the Region 5 MASB Board of Directors. Carried.
Motion by Jason McConnachie, support by Randee Kirkpatrick to approve the spring coaching positions as presented by Monica Spranger, Athletic Director:
JH Boys Track: Phyllis Ridley; JH Girls Track: Sulyn Schumacher; Girls Track: Steve Linn; Boys Track: Dan Woodard; Track Assistant: Linda Wright; Softball: Christi Pavlovics; Baseball: Ben Smith
Motion by Curt Vogel, support by Amy Dumaw to adjourn at 8:44 p.m. Carried.
