Ginther Pleads Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter
SANILAC COUNTY PROSECUTOR, JAMES V. YOUNG ADVISED THAT JEREMY GINTHER, AGE 30 OF CROSWELL HAS PLED GUILTY TODAY, JUNE 4, 2015 TO VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER THAT CARRIES A FIFTEEN (15) YEAR MAXIMUM SENTENCE AND TO FELONY – FIREARMS A MANDATORY 2 YEARS CONSECUTIVELY AND PRIOR TO ANY TERM OF IMPRISONMENT IMPOSED FOR VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. THE TRIAL FOR MR. GINTHER WAS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 16, 2015.
JEREMY GINTHER WAS CHARGED WITH OPEN MURDER AND FELONY –FIREARM IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF HIS UNCLE, PAUL FRANKLIN BARR ON MAY 26, 2014 AT THEIR RESIDENCE IN CROSWELL, MICHIGAN. JEREMY GINTHER WILL RECEIVE A PRISON SENTENCE OF A MINIMUM OF NINE (9) YEARS AND UP TO SEVENTEEN (17) YEARS FOR THE MAY 26TH SHOOTING.
PROSECUTOR YOUNG STATED “THAT THE INCIDENT WAS TRAGIC FOR THE BARR AND GINTHER FAMILES. THE PRESENCE OF THE FIREARM LED TO THE RESULT, MR. BARR’S DEATH.”
- GINTER’S SENTENCING IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 15, 2015 AT 9 A.M. BEFORE CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE DONALD A. TEEPLE. PROSECUTOR YOUNG EXPRESSED HIS APPRECIATION TO CHIEF DAVID HALL AND HIS OFFICERS AND OTHER RELATED POLICE DEPARTMENTS FOR THEIR EXCELLENT INVESTIGATION, ALONG WITH THE MICHIGAN STATE POLICE CRIME LABORATORY AND DR. DANIEL SPITZ, ST. CLAIR COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER.
