Goodtimes in Deckerville this Weekend
The plans have been made, and now it’s time for fun in Deckerville this weekend. The weather sounds like it is going to cooperate.
On Friday, Deckerville Community Hospital is sponsoring a Funtastic Family Fun Fair at Wilson Park, starting at 10:00 a.m. There is free admission, free activities and free stuff. It is being made possible from funding from Sanilac County Community Health.
There will be garage sales throughout town, and the Deckerville Public Library will be holding a Book Sale at the Village Council Chambers (also on Saturday). The Deckerville Historical Society is also planning a book sale at the four corners.
The first round of the women’s volleyball tournament takes place at Wilson Park, starting at 5:00 p.m.
A new event this year will the Flying Star Rodeo performing. That event starts at 6:00 p.m., and should be lots of fun for the whole family.
The refreshment tent opens at 5:00 p.m.
At 9:00 p.m., the country band, Bob Marshall will take to the stage, and a beautiful fireworks display is planned for dusk.
Saturday starts early with the 5K Run/Walk, at the school, and the second round of volleyball at Wilson Park, both starting at 8:00 a.m.
The Deckerville Historical Museum will open its doors at 10:00 a.m., and the parade will be at 12:00 noon.
Right after the parade, old cars and trucks galore will line both sides of Main Street for the annual Car Show.
If you’re hungry after the parade, the annual Trowhill Dinner starts at 1:00 p.m., at Wilson Park.
The cornhole tournament starts at 2:00 p.m., and there will be lots of fun for the kids as there will be many activities for them to do.
It will include a Pedal Pull, a petting zoo, a magician, face painting and more.
The refreshment tent will also be open on Saturday, and the band Jedi Mind Trip will start playing at 8:00 p.m.
On Sunday, you will need to travel to the Sportsman’s Club, east of Deckerville. There will be a softball tournament, starting at 8:00 a.m., and at 12:00 noon, a Chicken BBQ will be held.
