Local Youth Center Receives Grant from Sanilac County Community Foundation

DECKERVILLE- Campus Life Quest, operated by Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ, opened its doors to junior high and high school students on December 4, 2014. This drop-in youth center was aided largely by a grant issued by the Sanilac County Community Foundation to buy equipment to furnish the youth center.
The grant money was used to purchase a refrigerator, televisions, gaming system controllers, and XBox and Wii games. Many items were also donated by local individuals and organizations. These include a pool table, ping pong table, couches, chairs, and tables.
Because of the generosity of the SCCF and local supporters, Campus Life Quest is open to teenagers on Tuesdays and Thursdays: during the summer, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and during the school year, 3:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
While at Quest, students have the opportunity to play games, eat snacks, get help with homework and interact with caring adult mentors. Staff and volunteers seek to provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Special events are also held occassionally such as the Christmas Party in Deckerville and the movie night on July 17, at 7:00 p.m.
Bluewater Thumb Youth for Christ is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that exists to “[reach] young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other likeminded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.”
Sanilac County Community Foundation’s mission is to assist individuals and organizations with a desire to make a difference in our community through endowed philanthrophy.
