Marlette Fall to Pirates

The Marlette Red Raiders played host to the Harbor Beach Pirates last Friday in Marlette. The Pirates started out hot and led the contest 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. Marlette bounced back in the second, outscoring the Pirates 10-5, but still trailed 24-19 at the half. Marlette narrowed the margin even further in the third quarter, outscoring Harbor Beach 13-10 but still trailed by two points to start the fourth quarter. Harbor Beach caught fire again in the fourth, scoring 16 to Marlette’s 6 and taking the win 50-38.
Quintin Sartin led the way for the Red Raiders with 17 points, 5 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Tyler Izydorek scored 9 points and pulled in 4 steals in the loss. Aaron Bower chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Trey Lester, Dom Crossno and Brandon Anderson each finished with 2 points.
Marlette dropped to 4-7 overall (1-4 GTC East) after the loss to the Pirates. The Red Raiders will look to climb out of their slump when they host Capac at home on Wednesday and Mayville at home on Friday for Marlette’s Snowcoming celebrations.
