The Sandusky Wolves hosted the Brown City Green Devils last Wednesday. The Wolves started out hot, scoring seventeen points in the first quarter while holding Brown City to just seven.Brown City started clawing their way back in the second quarter but still trailed the Wolves at halftime: 26-18. The Wolves struggled to knock down shots in the third quarter and Brown City cut the lead further to 31-27 by the fourth. Brown City was the dominant force in the fourth quarter, putting up fifteen points to Sandusky’s six, and taking the win 42-37. The Wolves played tough early but let it slip away in the fourth, Sandusky is now 4-1 in the GTC East as Brown City springs to the top with a perfect 6-0 record in league play. Sandusky will have another shot at Brown City before the end of the season, and could still end up with a share of the league title if Brown City runs into any problems of their own. Caleb Minard led the Wolves in scoring with 8 points and 3 rebounds. Jackson Kartanys also scored 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Carson Shampo had 6 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Braden Bender had 5 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist. Barry Lester had four points, a rebound, a steal and an assist. Kyle Guibord had 3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot. Kelton Bukoski rounded out the scoring with 3 points, 3 rebounds and an assist.
The Sandusky Wolves braved the elements for the bus ride to Memphis Friday night to take on the Yellow Jackets for some GTC action. The Wolves wasted no time in building up a lead, holding the Yellowjackets to just nine points in the first half while putting up twenty-nine themselves.The Wolves slowed down their scoring charge in the second half, but still walked away with a comfortable thirty point victory: 46-16. Braden Bender led the way for the Wolves with 8 points, 3 rebounds and an assist. Caleb Minard chipped in 7 points, a rebound, a steal and 2 assists. Brenden Long had 6 points, 4 rebounds and an assist. Kelton Bukoski added 5 points and an assist. Carson Shampo had 4 points and an assist. Nick Leen had 4 points and 2 rebounds. Carter Krause, Kyle Guibord, Tanner Taege, Kyle Donagrandi, Gabe Drabant and Jackson Kartanys all had 2 points a piece. The Wolves improve to 5-1 after the win over Memphis and travel to Harbor Beach on Wednesday for another league matchup with the Pirates.
