Motorcyclist Injured Evading Deer

Speaker Township– On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call advising that a motorcycle had crashed into a ditch on W. Galbraith Line Rd. near Jordan Rd., in Speaker Township. Deputies, along with the Speaker Township Fire Department and Marlette EMS, were dispatched to the scene.
Deputies’ initial investigation determined that a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 50-year-old Brown City man, was westbound on Galbraith Line Rd. The driver attempted to avoid hitting a deer and laid the motorcycle down in the roadway. The driver was treated on scene by Marlette EMS and transferred by Lifenet of Michigan helicopter to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and speed were not factors in the collision. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet during the time of the crash.
Names are being withheld at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
