Helicopter Accident

At approximately 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15th Sanilac Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call that a helicopter landed in front a manufacturing business in the 1000 block of W. Sanilac Road. The caller reported that the helicopter took out some power lines upon landing and they were without power.
According to Lt. Washkevich, Sheriff’s Deputy Ron DuBois and Sandusky Police Officer Matt Gezequel responded to the scene and observed the helicopter on the ground with the rotor spinning, but quickly took off and left heading southeast.
The Moore Township Fire Department responded and awaited Thumb Electric power crews to arrive and repair the damaged power lines.
There were no injuries in the accident and the case remains under investigation.
