It was a windy day for softball last Thursday, but the Sandusky Redskins and Marlette Red Raiders went at it in a GTC-East battle and after all had settled, the teams came away with a split of the conference doubleheader. In the opener, Marlette held on for a 4-3 win, only to see the Lady Redskins rally for a 16-14 win in the nightcap.
Paige Levitt led the Sandusky hit parade for the afternoon, finishing with four singles and two doubles. Danielle Franzel (two doubles) and Haley Nelson chipped in with three singles apiece and Madison Winarski smacked a pair of singles and a double. No other stats from either team was made available.
Sandusky will host Harbor Beach Thursday in another GTC-East battle and host Laker on Monday in a GTC crossover contest. Marlette begins a four-game homestand Thursday when they take on Ubly while Cass City pays a visit to the Cheryl Thomas Field Monday for a GTC crossover tilt.
