Sandusky flexed their wrestling muscles in Vassar last week, rolling to a 48-12 win over the Vulcans. Though several points were scored on forfeits, Sandusky had a chance to show off their talent in the heavier weight classes including Jacob Horst at 152 lbs. Horst pinned his man in just 1:06 while Trevor Willing (171) needed less than a minute to pin his man, stopping the bout at 0:56. After a win by Cody Hartz at 189 (forfeit), Redskins 215 pounder Anthony Filkins notched a win by a pin over his Vassar opponent, winning at the 5:05 mark of the third period.
In other action on the mat, Sandusky fell in a hard fought match to Memphis, coming out on the short end of a 42-36 final score. Tate Larson pinned his man in 1:30 at 140 pounds, Jacob Horst (152) won by pin (1:00), Willing earned a pin at the 1:40 mark at 171 and Cody Hartz scored a pin for the Redskins, stopping the clock at 3:35 in the 189 pound class.
Sandusky was scheduled to compete this week in a tri-meet in Mayville along with Ubly on Wednesday night.
