Eagles take League; Face Peck in Regional

The Deckerville Eagles held Dryden to six points in the final game of the regular season, putting 52 points on the scoreboard, and giving them the league title.
The Eagles scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, on an Austin Spaetzel 13 yard run (PAT good) and a Jared Philpot 36 yard run. The defense didn’t allow Dryden to score.
Dryden got their lone touchdown in the second quarter, on a 35 yard pass (PAT failed). The Eagles scored three times in the second quarter. Brandon Pattullo had a quarterback keeper running 53 yards for the touchdown. The PAT was good. Austin Fritch took his turn getting a touchdown, scoring on a 36 yard run, (PAT failed). Brandon Pattullo ran in the last touchdown before the half, with a 23 yard run. The PAT was good, giving the Eagles a 22-6 half-time lead.
Deckerville went on to score two more times in the third quarter, on an Austin Spaetzel 15 yard run (PAT good) and Wade Saldana 44 yard run (PAT good). The Eagles had 18 firstdowns, and were 43-373 on the ground and 6-4-62 in the air. Dryden was held to five first downs, and had -29 yards on the ground. They were 10-3-84 passing.
Deckerville had three penalties for the night for 35 yards; Dryden 5-35.
Wade Saldana led the Eagles rushing, 10-93; Austin Fritch 7-87; Jared Philpot 8-69; Austin Spaetzel 4-63; Brandon Pattullo 5-61.
The Eagles (8-1) will take on Peck (7-2) this Friday night at home. The winner of Friday’s game will take on the winner of the New Haven Merritt Academy (7-2) and Morrice (8-1) game.
8-Player Regional games take place October 30 or 31, and November 6 or 7. Tickets are $5, or $6 if multiple games are played at one site.
8-Player Semifinal games take place November 14. Tickets are $6, or $7 if multiple games are played at one site.
The 8-Player Final is scheduled for Friday, November 20, at Greeneville HS. Tickets are $8.
The 8-Player Final will be televised on a delayed basis on FOX Sports Detroit – Monday, November 23, 2:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Nov.ember 24, 7:30 p.m. They will be streamed live on FOXSportsDetroit.com.
