C-PS Track Redo Approved at Board Meeting

The CPS Board of Education held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 13. The meeting was called to order by President Blasius at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
Considerations
Approved the MHSAA Membership; Approved the following resignations with regret: Mel Vance, Bus Driver and Bill Sarkella, Varsity Softball (25 Seasons); Approved NEOLA updates; Approved Chartwell’s renewal
Projects Approval
Approved the redo of the HS Track – Astec Asphalt – $177,200 ( 1 asphalt bid); AG Sports Surfaces – $89,000 (3 surface bids); TOTAL – $266,200. Scheduled to be completed late Fall ‘22 – awarded to low bidders
Superintendent’s Report
We loaned our stage to Deckerville; We are finishing up the ’22-’23 Calendar; Digging into staffing needs for ’22- ‘23

Budget wraps up June 30th; Summer Food Service starts tomorrow

Camp went well! 32 students signed up for summer school. 27 signed up for elementary basketball camp this week
HS Principal/Athletic Director, M. Campbell
18 students have been encouraged to attend summer school; Congratulations to Jr. High student Jeremy Hartel who qualified and ran well at the statewide track meet. Our HS State Track qualifiers showed well at the Meet: Gavin Kelly (Discus) ~ Nik Lewis 100 M Dash ~ 4×100 Relay of Lewis, Mikey Jasso, Randy Hartel and Evan Grigg. Baseball finished the season with a 7-5 record and Softball 2 – 12. Summer athletic teams are already in progress.
The next meeting will be a budget hearing on Thursday, June 30, at 6:00 p.m., at the high School.
