Eagles Beat Mayville; Fall to Pirates

The Deckerville Eagles played Mayville last Tuesday, getting the win, 68-49.
The Eagles scored 17 points in the first quarter, Mayville 12. Derek Osborne scored 7 in the quarter, Hunter Garza 4, Connor Palmer, 3, Logan Martin 2 and Brady Sharbowski, 1. In the second quarter, the Eagles added 16 more points, 5 from Brady Sharbowski, Connor Palmer with 3, Hunter Garza a 3-pointer, and 2 from David Shanks and Gabe Kappen. Mayville scored 11 in the quarter, for a Deckerville 33-23 lead. Mayville was outscored by 5 in the third quarter, Deckerville added 19, Mayville 14. Hunter Garza scored 5 in the quarter as did Derek Osborne. Connor Palmer added 4, Gabe Kappen had a 3-pointer and Brady Sharbowski, 2. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles had 16 points, Mayville, 12. Connor Palmer scored 5 of the points, Corbin Sharbowski 3 and Derek Osborne, Mike Pink and Preston Holman 2 apiece.
Three Eagles were in double figures, Connor Palmer with 16, Derek Osborne 14 and Hunter Garza 12.
On Friday night, the boys hosted Peck for Winterfest, but after a battle, took the loss, 43-55.
The first half was lopsided, with Peck taking a 22-8 lead, and Deckerville scoring 13 points in the second, holding Peck to 4, for a Peck 26-21 half-time lead. In the third quarter, Peck added 17 points, Deckerville 13 and in the fourth, Peck 12, Deckerville, 9.
Derek Osborne and Kris Kosal both had 4 points in the first quarter, Peck’s top scorer was Dalton Sempf with 11 (three 3-pointers). In the second quarter, Connor Palmer had 8 of the 13 points, Derek Osborne 4 and Brady Sharbowski, 1. In the third, Logan Martin was top scorer with 6 (one 3-pointer), Connor Palmer 4 and Hunter Garza a 3-pointer. In the fourth, Logan Martin, Brady Sharbowski and Connor Palmer each scored 3.
Connor Palmer was top scorer for the Eagles with 15 points, followed by Logan Martin with 9 and Derek Osborne, 8.
Peck had two in double figures, Dalton Sempf with 22 and Cal Heiden, 17.
