Lady Eagles Raise $1,360 for Area Breast Cancer Patients; Defeat Dryden

The Lady Eagles played four hard fought sets against North Huron last Tuesday, but took the loss, 26-24/ 23-25/ 16-25/ 16-25. Coach Jessica Heilig said, “It was a great game, just not the outcome we wanted.”
For the Eagles, Johanna Kubacki 5 kills, 56 digs, 5 aces, 4 points; Rachel Vogel 18 kills, 21 digs, 2 aces, 1 point; Jessie Heilig 5 kills, 22 digs, 2 aces, 7 points; Emma Salowitz 32 digs, 1 ace; Brooke Barker 5 digs, 2 kills, 2 blocks; Cassandra Trigger 9 digs, 3 points.
Deckerville hosted a tough Dryden team on Thursday, getting the win in three sets: 25-21/ 25-18/ 25-23.
For the Lady Eagles, Rachel Vogel 9 kills, 7 digs, 2 aces, 3 points, 2 blocks; Jessie Heilig 25 assists, 8 digs; 5 aces, 12 points; Johanna Kubacki 3 kills, 16 digs, 2 aces, 2 points; Emma Salowitz 16 digs, 2 aces, 5 points; Alyssa Rudgers 9 kills, 1 ace, 2 points; Cassandra Trigger 7 digs, 1 ace, 2 points; Danica Oldenburg 3 blocks, 2 kills; and Maryanne Sanford 3 kills, 1 block.
The Deckerville volleyball team has been raising money for the last two weeks for two local women that have been fighting breast cancer – the junior high, junior varsity and varsity. The girls raised $1,360 – due to generous small community support. Coach Jessica Heilig said, “As a coach I am very proud of my whole program! The girls raised $1,360! Both teams played for these ladies and won!”
