Lawnchair Music Series Kickoff

The Sandusky Arts Council is excited to return this year with the Lawnchair Concert Series, presented on the courthouse lawn for six consecutive Friday evenings this summer.
The first show of the series is June 23, and the series concludes on July 28. All shows run from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. According to Sandusky Arts Council president, Kevin Kohn, “This year is an “all new” year for us. None of the bands we’ve booked for the season have ever played with our series. We’re excited to bring some new energy to our stage.” This year, DETOUR, opens our season. They are a high energy party band that performs a variety of rock, pop, funk, and country music from the 80s, 90s, and the current top 40.
Complimented by an elaborate light show and state of the art sound reinforcement, Detour is a self-contained act that has electrified audiences of all ages for over 10 years. They are a Michigan based group and have played events all over the state, including Kewadin Theater in Mt. Pleasant. Detour features a dynamic female lead vocalist backed by the finest Michigan area musicians. Each member has their own unique vocal style which lends itself to a wide range of material and great vocal harmony.
“In case of inclement weather, we are able to relocate our concerts this year to the new Health Department location, in the old Maple Valley School. We appreciate their welcoming us in to their new home when we need a stage. We will blast this information on all of our social media and on the local radio stations. We will also have very large, brightly colored signs announcing the change in venue in prominent places around town.”
Sandusky Arts Council has produced the Lawnchair Music Series which has become a tradition over the last 17 years. Sandusky Arts Council is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to sharing arts with our community. They are always looking for new members to help us with the Lawnchair Music Series and to work on other projects. Anyone interested in working with a dedicated group of people who love the arts, please see one of the members at the series, You don’t have to have experience in the arts, just appreciate them and have some energy to spare.
The group begins setting up for the concerts about 4:00 p.m., on Fridays-if you would like to help, please show up and ask for Kevin Kohn.
