Marlette Farmers Market Opens Friday

MARLETTE, MI – This Friday, May 14 is opening day for the fourth season of the Marlette Farmers Market in downtown Marlette! Local farmers, bakers, food trucks and crafters will showcase their finest from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Fridays for the next 22 weeks on the market lot, located in the center of downtown Marlette on M-53. This week will have lots of flowers and garden items!
There are many returning vendors who have signed up for the entire season, including End of the Lane Greenhouse, Sunshiners, Woodcrafts & Lace, One Day at a Thyme, Stone Cottage Farm, M’Eye Designs, Fun Foods Aprons, Elk Grove Metal Works, Battels Sugarbush Maple Syrup, and Funny Farm. New season long vendors include Mel’s Veggies, Wilkinson Farm, Frey’s Designs & More, Constructive Creations, Herbs & Stitches, and Sugartown Sweets. Other vendors who will be there include Gail Cramer’s Rugs, Linny B’s Sweet Treats, Elk Grove Metalworks, Marlene Kraft Crafts, and many more!
Each of our food vendors selling produce, fruit, meat, eggs, jams, syrup, honey, baked goods and similar items will be accepting SNAP through a market master system. Customers who have a Bridge Card or P-EBT card can come to the market manager tent to get tokens to spend at different vendors. For every two dollars they use from their Bridge card, they get two dollars in Double Up Food Bucks coins, matching up to $50 per week. These silver Double Up Food Bucks coins can be spent to buy fresh Michigan fruits and vegetables from our vendors. Senior Project Fresh coupons are also honored at the market.
Live entertainment will be provided by “Alter of Stone”, and this week’s food truck is “El Hombre Grande” Mexican food. Stop by the Market Manager tent for a free map showing Marlette area Amish businesses and a guide to shopping, dining & entertainment in Marlette. Show the manager a receipt from ANY Marlette business with Friday’s date, and get $3 in Market Money to spend at any vendor.
This year you will see a new face at the market, Mary Gilbert, the new Manager. She is expecting her first child any day now, so familiar faces Sandie Cargill, Lisa Kenny and Linda McLane will be filling in when she is on maternity leave.
