New Free Online Support for Women
The Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP) is launching Women 2 Women, a FREE 10-week online education and support program for women. The program will help women with long-term health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and breathing problems. Participants must live in Huron, Sanilac, Tuscola, or portions of Lapeer counties. Due to funding restrictions, women in Lapeer County must reside in one of the following zip codes: 48421, 48446, 48461, 48464. The Women 2 Women (W2W) group will start on Tuesday, April 25 and end on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. To register for this free group, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WtoW. “Women living with a long-term health condition often experience pain, stress, or limited physical activity,” explains Gail Innis, W2W Coach. “We’ve designed the online W2W program to help these women better manage their health, so they feel better both physically and mentally.”
As part of the W2W program, the women will participate in the Better Choices, Better Health® online series for 6 weeks with local education and support will be provided by Innis. Developed by Stanford University, the Better Choice Better Health workshop series has proven to improve symptoms related to long-term conditions, reduce depression and anxiety, and increase physical activity.
“Giving and receiving support in the workshop has been proven to help participants improve their health and reach their health goals,” shares Innis. “ I will be the women’s coach during the entire 10-week program.
