Project Connect brings Community Together
The 2015 Sanilac County Project Connect Event is coming to our community soon! The annual event, sponsored by Sanilac County Project Connect Committee, Sanilac County United Way, and Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness will be held on Thursday, October 1, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the Countryside Free Methodist Church, 912 W. Sanilac Sandusky.
Similar to previous years, the Sanilac County human services agencies, businesses, health providers, churches, and community members are coming together to help those who are struggling. The event is held to raise awareness of the many programs in Sanilac County, and to help link people with those resources.
“Nearly 300 individuals were serviced at last years Sanilac County Project Connect Event. That means that almost 300 of our local citizens benefited from having local service providers and community partners gather in one location to provide and educate on our local resources and services!
This year in addition to the information on community resources there will be providing free educational workshops, lunches, flu shots, haircuts, a food truck distribution, and much more. Sanilac County Transportation will generously provide free transportation to and from the event for in county residents, simply call 800-275-9311 the day before our event to arrange your ride! By bringing all of the information and services to one place, an individual can link the resources together that they may need.
The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness stated, “A successful Project Homeless Connect Event sends the message that the homeless and precariously housed are a valued part of the community and should be assisted in times of need.”
