Marlette Pool open for the Season

The Marlette Pool and Park are truly a community affair!  In addition to the previous articles with community businesses helping with the pool, The Marlette GFWC went to both parks in town Saturday to plant flowers.  The Marlette Pinochle Club, once again donated their end of year earnings of $1,000 to the Friends of the Pool Account.  Over the past four years they have donated $2,400. The park has seen lots of activity over the past week.  The youth group from Hope Community Church used the Volley Ball courts, Wednesday, as well as students from the preschool to second grade from Marlette Elementary school having a picnic and playing games. Thursday, June 4, the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students used the entire park including the pool for their end of the year celebration. Approximately 150 students used the pool, play equipment, tennis courts, basketball courts, and pavilions for snacks.

The pool officially opened June 5.  The hours are 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m., during the week and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The day pass is $2 and evening pass $1.  Family pass for the summer is $125 and individual pass $65.

Swimming Lessons will begin with Session I June 15 – June 25 , Session II July 13 -23, Session III August 3-13.  As of now we are scheduling morning and evening classes, pending numbers. Lessons are ½ hour Monday through Thursday for two weeks. Morning sessions are 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  and evening 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The lifeguards this year are: Victoria Howe, head guard, Connor Thomas, Asst., Chad Walker, Asst., Mackenzie Kelly, Courtney Quade, Jordan Cleland, Hannah Kady, Ricky Schell, Hailey Byers, Caitlin Quade, Taylor Mitchell, Brooke Jocham, and Hannah Byers.

The City of Marlette is also offering a Summer Recreation Program.  It is a seven-week program Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from June 15 – July 31. The time is 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Crafts, games, snacks, and swimming will be offered to students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
