Partnership Puts the Brakes on Prostate Cancer
Sandusky, Mich. – McKenzie Health System, the P.C.U.P.S. (Prostate Cancer Understanding Prevention Screening) Foundation and Tubbs Brothers recently teamed up to promote prostate cancer awareness in the community. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men in the United States (just behind skin cancer).
Using the Central Michigan University (CMU) Mobile Health Clinic stationed at Tubbs Brothers Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Sandusky on November 5, 2015, McKenzie Health System staff completed 63 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) tests, as well as 40 Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Screenings. The free screenings were funded by the P.C.U.P.S. Foundation.
PSA tests are a non-invasive way to screen for prostate cancer through the use of a blood test. High levels of PSA may indicate the presence of prostate cancer. Since its founding in 2012, the P.C.U.P.S. Foundation has paid for over 1,000 PSA tests for Michigan men.
