Comments on returning players: Sr. Brooke Krueger is in her 4th season on the varsity team and we are looking to her for leadership on the field as one of our co-captains. Sr. Emily Cowley is our #1 pitcher and will handle most of the pitching duties this season, our team is looking forward to play defense behind her. Sr. Keegan Nelson in her 3rd season on varsity will be the leader in the outfield playing centerfield for the second straight. Sr. Keri Molloy will handle outfield duties and play be our 3rd base back up. Sr. Terra Cahoon will play most of her time in the outfield and some back up catching duties. Jr. Jenna Franzel in her 3rd season will remain our full time catcher, and fill in in the infield when not catching. Jr. Caroline Ross is our starting 2nd baseman and our number 2 pitcher.
Lost to graduation: Alyssa Webb, Adrienne Shultz, Britney Potter, Morgan Western. These young ladies will be truly missed, and I personally wish the best to them in thier futures.
New athletes to the team: (please include grade) All of these young ladies had playing on the varsity last year, but are taking over the vacant spots the 2014 seniors left. So. Katelyn Patterson will take over all the 1st base duties, last year she was our DH. Jr. Autumn Rockefeller will be full time in the outfield, last year she ran bases and pitch hit for us mostly. Sr. Taylor Ball will start at 3rd base, last season she play a little outfield and a game or two at 3rd base, this year she will be one of our co-captains and play 3rd.
Comments about your team’s strengths/weaknesses and any goals for the season: Our team is looking pretty sharp this spring and we all will be looking to the girls with more then one varsity season under thier belt to lead the charge. We don’t have a lot of numbers so girls will have to play back to back game, and work hard to stay healthy. Our goals are simple for 2015, we are going to play each game one at a time and be competitive in each contest, looking to improve in all areas along the way and have a great time doing it.
Outlook for your league – Where do you see your team fitting in?
GTC East is a great league every team is competitive, our team feels that we are going to have to push ourselves hard this season to get to be in the mix with the top teams.
