Wrestlers Battle it Out in Cass City

Snow did not deter the area wrestlers from competing Saturday, January 13. The Wayne Brady Classic has been held in Bad Axe the second Saturday in January for years. It attracts several teams both local and far. This year the tournament saw 12 teams compete. Local teams that braved the weather were Brown City, Cass City, Clio, Marlette, Marysville, North Branch, Richmond, Sandusky, Ubly, and Yale. The Marlette wrestlers finished as follows: Brooke Reber went 0-2 at the 106 lb class, Walker Chapin went 1-2 at the 132 lb class, Turlough Bennett claimed his 100th win to start the day. He ended the day 5-0 claiming first place in 144 lb class. Anthony Rosario went 0-2 at 150 lbs. Lucas Hascall went 0-2 at the 157 lb class. Westley Chapin 3-1 for the day claiming 3rd place in the 175 lb class. Tyler Ramirez 1-2 at the 215 lb class. John Machia went 0-2 at the 285 lb class. The Sandusky wrestlers finished as follows: Jayden Geraldo went 0-2 in the 132 lb class, Joey Nix went 1-2 in the 138 lb class, Alex Bays went 0-5 in the 144 lb class, Ryan McKenney was 2-1 for the day earning a 2nd place finish at the 150 lb class, Jacob McKenney went 0-2 at the 150 lb class and Colin Thompson went 1-2 in the 285 lb class.
