Eagle Beat 4/1/15 Edition

This week is a mixed one for spring sports. The jury is still out if some games will be played or not. Both softball games for this week have been cancelled. So, for the baseball and softball kids, they have until after spring break to keep honing their skills and improving their fundamentals. Here’s hoping they can at least practice in the parking lot instead of the gym! The next track meet is scheduled for April 3 at Bad Axe.
The end of last week was also a tough one for students because many of them were going home sick. So, here’s a shout out to those kids: hope you get better! A lack of people made sports practices interesting last week.
Basketball awards have been coming out this week, so congratulations to all those receiving awards.
Another big announcement was made recently at Deckerville. This was the graduating class of 2015’s valedictorians and salutatorian. (Yes, valedictorians plural.) There are four of them! Congratulations to Jadelyn Bradley, Sarah Barker, Tess Schulz, and Jordan Cleland on working hard throughout the years and making the cut! The salutatorian is Jennifer Stone; congrats, Jen!
The time for seniors is swiftly being narrowed down. A chain link in the senior hallway estimates that there are about 25 days left for those students who are exempt from exams, so keep studying hard and beat that senioritis! The last day for seniors who are exempt is May 8, with commencement on May 17.
